\"pig<\/a>\u201cPablo? He is crazy!\u201d zei Jes\u00fas toen we in de auto zaten op weg naar Jerez de la Frontera. Ik vroeg Jes\u00fas wat hij daar precies mee bedoelde. Jes\u00fas gaf een voorbeeld: Pablo had zijn auto volhangen met injectienaalden om junks ervan te weerhouden in te breken. Want wat verwacht je nou in de auto van een junk? En Pablo had een oplossing voor de crisis.<\/p>\n

Impuls<\/strong>
\nDit voorjaar riep premier Mark Rutte alle Nederlanders op om meer te besteden. Een paar maanden later volgde PvdA-leider Diederik Samsom met een gelijkluidende boodschap: consumenten moesten hun geld laten rollen. Dat zou de stagnerende economie de impuls geven die het zo hard nodig heeft.<\/p>\n

Krimp<\/strong>
\nDe Nederlandse consument geeft al enkele jaren achtereen minder uit. De bestedingen aan auto’s, kleding en meubels daalden. Evenals de uitgaven aan voedings- en genotmiddelen. Het enige waar de consument meer aan uitgaf, was aardgas. Met dank aan het koude voorjaar.
\nAls de consument minder besteedt, krimpt de economie. En dat is precies wat al twee jaar achtereen gebeurt. Dat is spijtig, maar geef die consument eens ongelijk. Het zijn onzekere tijden, we hebben sinds 2008 gekke dingen meegemaakt en wie weet wat er nog gaat komen.<\/p>\n

Record<\/strong>
\nDe oproep van Rutte en Samsom is zo gek nog niet. Weliswaar zijn er mensen die in deze tijden moeten knokken om te overleven, feit is ook dat Nederlanders in januari van dit jaar een recordbedrag op hun spaarrekeningen hadden staan: totaal 328,4 miljard euro. Bijna 5 miljard euro meer dan het jaar daarvoor. De consument is voorzichtig. Als-ie het geld al geeft, denkt-ie vandaag de dag drie keer na of-ie het wel uitgeeft.<\/p>\n

Doorbraak<\/strong>
\nDe oproepen van Rutte en Samsom hebben weinig effect gesorteerd. Dat is niet verrassend, want zo\u2019n oproep is goedbedoeld, maar veel te vrijblijvend. Nee, dan Pablo\u2019s idee. Zijn idee is om aan een deel van spaartegoeden een houdbaarheidsdatum te verbinden. Je mag heel veel spaargeld hebben, maar je moet er wel iets mee doen. Je mag het uitgeven, investeren, uitlenen of weggeven, maar sowieso niet oppotten. Doe je dat laatste toch, dan raak je het kwijt.<\/p>\n

Ik moest er even over nadenken en vond het een even krankzinnig als briljante gedachte. Dit zou zonder twijfel zorgen voor een doorbraak in deze in historisch perspectief economisch zware tijd. Dat een dergelijk initiatief kan stranden op politieke onwil, omdat geen politicus zijn vingers eraan durft te branden uit angst voor de achterban, maakt Pablo\u2019s idee niet minder goed. Misschien is die Pablo zo gek nog niet\u2026<\/p>\n
